Home is easy to take for granted until receiving treatment means leaving it. Facility-based detox and residential rehab serve different purposes, but both require the patient to enter an environment organized around the facility. Even when a room is expensive or described as “luxury,” the basic arrangement remains the same: the patient goes to the institution.
Private alcohol detox at home reverses that direction. Dr. Jonathan Reitman directs the withdrawal care remotely, and an experienced nurse remains onsite continuously for the duration of the detox. Prescribed medication is included. The medical care comes into the patient’s own environment instead of requiring the patient to leave familiar surroundings before treatment can begin.
In that sense, the service resembles an older, more personal idea of medicine: care is organized around the patient and brought to the home. This does not mean less medical structure. It means that the patient can remain among familiar people, rooms, pets and surroundings while the nurse maintains the treatment plan and Dr. Reitman directs the medical care.
Privacy and comfort are not two unrelated promises. Both follow from receiving care at home. Privacy means avoiding a shared facility and having a voice in who is involved. Comfort means familiarity and support—not amenities, distraction or a promise that withdrawal will be easy.

What Happens When You First Call?
A member of the Detox Concierge care team—not Dr. Reitman—usually handles the initial call or text. The first conversation covers the immediate situation, availability, cost, payment and the intake process. The caller can ask how communications should be handled and who may be included in later conversations.
Detox Concierge is private-pay and does not bill or accept insurance. Because Detox Concierge does not submit an insurance claim for its services, treatment does not depend on prior insurance authorization or an available insurance-approved bed.
If the patient decides to proceed, the care team schedules a confidential phone consultation with Dr. Reitman.
Does the Doctor Come to the House?
The model resembles traditional house-call medicine in one important respect: care comes to the patient. It is not ordinarily a physician house call. Dr. Reitman’s consultation takes place by phone, which removes the need for the patient to travel to an office and helps the care team move quickly once the patient decides to proceed.
After the consultation and agreed start date, the nurse obtains the medication ordered by Dr. Reitman before arriving. The nurse then performs the onsite assessment and BAC test, checks the location for accessible alcohol and begins the physician-directed plan.
An experienced nurse remains onsite continuously, including overnight. Nursing handoffs may occur during a multiday detox, but the patient is not left to manage medication, drinking, vital signs or changes in condition alone. Dr. Reitman remains available on call to the nurse and adjusts the medical plan as needed.
Who Will Know About the Detox?
Detox Concierge treats the patient’s health information as confidential. The care team does not contact an employer merely because a patient receives detox care, and Detox Concierge does not submit an insurance claim for its services.
The patient may involve a spouse, family member, friend, assistant or other trusted person. When the patient can make decisions, the care team asks whom the patient wants involved and what information may be discussed. Paying for care does not by itself mean that another person should receive every medical update.
Private does not mean undocumented. Dr. Reitman and the nurse need treatment information and must communicate with each other to provide medical care. Records and communications are handled under the privacy requirements that apply to the treating professionals and the information involved. In an emergency or another circumstance permitted or required by law, safety may require disclosure or transfer.
Luxury Is Not the Point—Home Is
Calling detox “luxury” can obscure the question that matters. A person is not looking to suffer in a more expensive room. Attractive surroundings and amenities may be pleasant, but they do not answer who is controlling the medication, watching the patient, responding to changes or remaining present overnight.
The meaningful difference is that home-based care does not require the patient to exchange familiar life for a nicer institution. The patient can remain in a familiar bed, keep a phone, see trusted people and stay surrounded by the ordinary sounds, pets and neighborhood that make home feel like home. Familiarity is not a distraction from detox. It removes the additional work of adapting to an unfamiliar institution while withdrawal is being treated.
The purpose remains medical: manage the body’s response to stopping alcohol while doing everything medically appropriate to reduce avoidable suffering. Home is the setting for treatment, not an escape from treatment.
Dr. Reitman prescribes medication based on the individual patient. The nurse administers and accounts for the medication, watches how the patient responds and reports changes. Treatment may address shaking, anxiety, nausea, sleep disruption, elevated blood pressure and seizure risk according to Dr. Reitman’s orders.
Sleep is an important treatment goal. Better sleep can help appetite, personal hygiene, judgment and motivation begin to return. The nurse also provides steady, nonjudgmental emotional support during the hours when the patient may feel frightened, irritable or tempted to stop treatment and drink again.

Does Private Detox Include Meals or IV Hydration?
Detox Concierge does not provide routine meal preparation or nutrition services. The patient, family or another support person supplies food and ordinary beverages. The nurse can monitor oral intake, encourage fluids and report concerns to Dr. Reitman.
IV fluids are not a routine part of every Detox Concierge alcohol detox. When medically appropriate, they may be ordered separately and may involve an additional charge. Receiving care at home should not be read as a promise of standard IV therapy, cooking or hotel-style services.
Can Family Stay Involved?
Family members and trusted people can provide reassurance, practical help and familiar company when the patient wants them involved. They are not expected to replace the nurse, administer medication, score withdrawal or decide whether a medical change is dangerous.
The patient keeps access to a phone. Detox Concierge does not impose a mandatory group program, Alcoholics Anonymous requirement or 12-step agenda. After detox, the patient decides what comes next and may consider options with advice from the care team.
Adult autonomy does not mean that the treatment plan is optional hour by hour. The nurse accounts for medication, checks the home for alcohol and supports compliance. Privacy preserves dignity; it does not turn medical detox into unsupervised self-treatment.
What If the Patient’s Condition Changes?
Every adult case is reviewed individually. Dr. Reitman considers the drinking pattern, previous withdrawal, current symptoms, other medications and substances, BAC and medical history when directing the plan.
The nurse monitors the patient continuously and reports changes to Dr. Reitman. If the patient needs a higher level of care, the plan is to act—not to preserve the appearance that everything can remain at home.
Call 911 for a seizure, signs of stroke, severe confusion, hallucinations, trouble breathing, inability to awaken the person, fainting or any rapidly worsening condition.
How Does Private Alcohol Detox Begin?
- Call or text the care team. Discuss the immediate situation, availability, the one-time all-inclusive charge and the intake process.
- Schedule the phone consultation. Dr. Reitman reviews the patient and prepares the medical orders.
- Agree on the start date. Care can usually begin within 24 hours after the consultation once the plan and date are agreed.
- The nurse obtains the ordered medication. The patient does not have to travel to an office or pharmacy.
- The nurse arrives and begins onsite care. The nurse performs the assessment and BAC test, checks for accessible alcohol and remains onsite continuously.
Detox Concierge charges one all-inclusive amount for the agreed standard service. There is no separate travel charge and no added weekend charge. IV fluids or another separately ordered service may carry an additional charge.
Frequently Asked Questions
Will Detox Concierge notify my employer?
No routine employer notification is part of the service. Patients should still consider what their own payment methods, leave requests, shared devices or communications may reveal outside Detox Concierge.
Will Detox Concierge submit an insurance claim?
No. Detox Concierge is private-pay and does not bill or accept insurance.
Does Dr. Reitman come to the home?
